BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE. EVERYWHERE. BEAUTIFUL BLACK PEOPLE.
I finally made it to AfroPunk.
Pricing and B.S. aside, I have never experienced an event this amazing. Ever. I'm not referring to SZA and Danny Brown lighting up the stage; or Kelis, in preggo glory, putting on a show in the vibrant sun; or even Grace Jones continuing to prove that she started the "absence of f**ks to give" movement in back-to-back nights of "I do what I want" performances.
No.
This was a vast expanse of beautiful Black people in all our shapes, sizes, and levels of defiance. It was a sight to behold, and I'm glad I was here for that, because I was. Here. For. That.
Thanks, AfroPunk.
